Hon. Joe Gibbons

Hon. Joe Gibbons is a member of the Board of Directors
of the African American Success
Foundation. He is a member of Florida House of
Representatives and formerly serviced as a member of the Hallandale Beach City Commission, holding the distinction of being the city's second ever-elected black
commissioner. Represenative Gibbons was born in Harlem-New York City, in 1948;
and has been a resident of Hallandale Beach since 1996.
Joe received a Bachelors Degree in General Studies from Calvin College, Grand
Rapids, Michigan, in 1970, and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from
John Jay College of the City University of New York, New York in 1974.
Joe began his professional career with IBM, in 1973, after serving as a Social
Worker in his Harlem community. Joe spent eight years with IBM, in various
executive sales and marketing positions. While at IBM, Joe earned the IBM 100%
Club Presidency, for highest sales achievement nationwide. Joe left IBM in 1980
to pursue his entrepreneur desires, and has since owned several computer and
imaging supply related companies. Joe was also President of the largest Imaging
Supplies Manufacturing Company, in Canada.
Joe founded Gibbons Consulting Group in December 2003, and currently serves as
its President. GCG is a business and sales consulting firm, specializing in
product sales and distribution. Gibbon Consulting Group is in the business of
providing advice and assistance to firms that are on the move, in trouble or
trying to do what they do better, faster and more cheaply. Gibbons Consulting
Group offers sales, marketing, financial and accounting, and incorporation
assistance, to businesses, on a nationwide basis.
Joe has received numerous accolades for his success in business and dedication
to community service. He was appointed to the White House Conference on Small
Business; recognized on the cover of Nations Business Magazine for his
enthusiasm and dedication to advancing small business initiatives; former Board
member of Junior Achievement; Founder of Lets Recycle; Small Business
Administration Minority Business Person of the year-Midwest Region; first
President of the Southwestern Michigan Minority Business Council; and former
member of the Canadian General Standards Board. Joe is a Board Member of the
Hallandale Beach Neighborhood Improvement Association, the Hallandale Future
Foundation, and the Hallandale-Pembroke Park Chamber of Commerce Scholarship
Fund. Joe serves on the Minority and Women Business Enterprise Advisory
Committee for the School Board of Broward County, on the Voices of the 21st
Century Multicultural Business Summit committee for The National Conference for
Community and Justice, and as Vice President of the Hallandale Beach Democratic
Club, Vice President of the Board of Directors of Anchor Bay Club Condominium,
is a member of the Hallandale-Pembroke Chamber of Commerce, and the Hallandale
Rotary Club.
